Follow the stories of a group of Londoners during the bombing of the British capital during World War II. Saoirse Ronan and Harris Dickinson previously starred together in See How They Run (2022). It was an honor to watch Blitz during NYFF 2024. closing night. I’ve seen a lot of WW2 films but this one was completely different in how ordinary Londoners were affected by all the bombs falling and how life was disrupted. The other element that was brilliantly portrayed was the underlying racial tension in the multi-ethnic London of those days. Fear of bombs and other dangers did not curb inherent racism. It has an almost documentary feel with limited dialogue, which made it even more difficult for the actors to bring out the right level of emotion that was needed to create the mood of the film. .Highly recommended..
