Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are Earth’s only hope when it faces the threat of an alien invasion. The first Looney Tunes film released theatrically that was not distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film was originally intended to be a streaming exclusive on the Max streaming service. After the company dropped out of distributing it, the film was shipped to other distributors, with GFM Animation eventually acquiring the worldwide distribution rights and changing the film to a theatrical release. Inside the meteorite, when Daffy demonstrates his talent for levers, he pulls the lever to lower the machine and pushes it to raise it again. Porky does this later in the scene as well. But when Porky and Petunia are tied up, Daffy pushes the lever forward and the machine lowers them again. At the end of the credits, Porky Pig makes his classic statement: “That’s it, folks!” only to be interrupted by Daffy Duck, who tells him that this is not the end of the movie and that they need a sequel. I really enjoyed the movie. The story is a little, well, crazy, but what else would you expect from Looney Tunes, but Daffy Duck & Porky Pig works as a movie. I have to say, however, that the action was very over the top. Sure, we are talking about Looney Tunes here, specifically Daffy Duck, but still. Then the jokes were a little lacking for me. There were some funny moments, no doubt, but that proper wit and humor, which defines Looney Tunes, was either missing or rare. But otherwise I can recommend the film as a hand-drawn animated film set in modern times. This review comes from Germany, where the film has already been released.
